Dr. Adrienne Gunstream, DDS, MS is a board-certified periodontist and Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, specializing in advanced periodontal therapy and dental implant care.
Dr. Gunstream believes exceptional periodontal care begins with understanding the individual. Every patient presents with unique goals, conditions, and expectations — and treatment planning should reflect that. She is known for delivering evidence-based treatment with clarity, precision, and a deeply patient-centered approach.
Her approach is grounded in evidence-based medicine, careful diagnosis, and clear communication, ensuring outcomes that are not only clinically sound but personally aligned. She prioritizes long-term stability, minimally invasive techniques whenever appropriate, and treatment plans built for lasting health.
Dr. Gunstream, DDS, MS earned her degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University before relocating to San Francisco to attend dental school at the University of the Pacific.
She completed her specialty training in periodontics at the University of California, San Francisco, where she also earned a graduate degree in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences. During her training, she conducted research focused on biofilm eradication — reinforcing her commitment to scientific rigor and clinical precision.
After completing specialty training, Dr. Gunstream practiced periodontics in the Bay Area before relocating to Iowa, where she founded Eastern Iowa Periodontics. She successfully led the practice until returning to the Bay Area in 2016.
In addition to private practice, she has held academic appointments at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry and the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
